Anna at IHOD

Congrats! Please email me your size and shipping info. Thanks to all who entered and to Shabby Apple for sponsoring the giveaway.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

What are you doing to celebrate? I'm thinking of trying one of the cocktail recipes in the new Goop newsletter like the Jam Cocktail from Madam Geneva's:

• 2 oz 42 Below Vodka or Beefeater Gin

• 1 oz lemon juice

• 1 oz simple syrup

• Crushed ice

• Spoonful of jam

In a shaker, add jam, vodka or gin, lemon juice, simple syrup and several ice cubes. Shake briskly, and strain into a rocks glass half-filled with crushed ice. Float a spoonful of jam on top of the ice, and gradually stir it in to taste. (Makes 1)

Have a great day!

600 Follower Giveaway: Win a Shabby Apple Dress!

GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED

I looked at my followers the other day and was floored to realize that I've topped 600! Seriously, I can't thank you all enough for reading, following and leaving your thoughts. I know I haven't been able to comment on as many blogs as usual lately, but I am following all the wonderful things my blog friends are posting about, and I'm hoping when real life slows down a bit I'll be able to get back into my blog reading-and-commenting routine. In the meantime I really appreciate all of you who contribute to this blog. As an extra thanks I'm happy to offer this giveaway, sponsored by Shabby Apple, for a beautiful dress from their line!

The Cortez dress features ruffles, cap sleeves, gold buttons and a high collar that adds an air of whimsy to this cotton poplin number. This beautiful dress manages to have both a military-inspired and totally feminine vibe that will bring you right into spring.

Shabby Apple offers a great selection of dresses, including plus size and maternity, as well as clothes for children and jewelry. They also have some pretty ideas for bridesmaid dresses. I'm all for easy dressing so I quite like the company's philosophy: "A return to what dresses were always meant to be — a one-piece outfit. No need to add anything...no tank tops, no cardigans, nothing (except accessories, of course!)" I for one love the idea of a no-fuss outfit that will have me looking great with a minimum of time and effort. And these dresses really are great canvases to showcase some standout accessories.

Shabby Apple is now also offering a 10% discount to readers of Sogni e Sorrisi. Just use discount code sognisorrisi10off at checkout! Now on to the giveaway...

How to Enter

This giveaway is open to followers of Sogni e Sorrisi (U.S. residents only).

GKhair Treatment Review & Giveaway

GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED

So friends, remember when I told you about the great opportunity I had to get a GKhair Hair Taming Treatment with JUVEXIN™? (GKhair were also the very generous sponsors of the Canadian Design Bloggers Meetup). Well, I thought it was high time I let you know my thoughts and give some more info about the process in case anyone out there is interested in trying it. GKhair's website explains the treatment like this: "The Taming System gives you smooth, shiny, frizz-free manageable hair while also restoring the hair from the inside out, returning it to a more youthful state. It also protects against future damage and environmental affects." Who doesn't want that?

Mention of the Meetup on Canadian House & Home.
That's me in the blue along with Linda (who captured
the screencap), and Daniella and Vitania (who
organized the amazing event). Photo: A Bit of Blue
First off, my hair is curly and I'm always looking for anything that can make it more manageable, less frizzy and just downright healthier. I always shied away from things like Japanese straightening because I was worried about how my hair would grown in (curly on top + straight on the bottom = a hot mess). When I discussed the process with the lovely Celeste of GKhair she assured me that this wouldn't be the case here. The GKhair Taming System lasts up to 5 months and fades gradually, so it's not like a perm growing out in reverse. Phew! Once I heard that I was totally sold.

I got my treatment done by one of the great stylist at L'Attitudes Salon and it was all done in about an hour. The treatment was applied and then my hair was blow dried and straightened with a flat iron. I didn't find the product smelled while being applied. All I was told was not to wash my hair for 48 hours and I was good to go. GKhair was also nice to give me an After Care treatment pack, including shampoo and conditioner, to help my look following the treatment.

I waited to post this review because I wanted to see how my hair would fare over a bit of time, especially because being curly it tends to have a mind of it's own. What I did find is that when straight my hair is extra silky and smooth. Most people at the Blogger event couldn't believe that my hair had been curly that morning. The straightening time is also cut down considerably with the treatment. I wear my hair curly a lot and find that my curls are definitely looser and my hair much softer to the touch. After some experimentation I've also found that after the GKhair treatment my hair actually works better with less product.

In a nutshell GKhair treatment has given my soft curls that are much easier to straighten. The process was easy and painless. If you have any questions please feel free to ask! For more on GKhair, including tutorials you can check out their videos on the GKhair Channel on YouTube.

GKhair is also offering one lucky follower of Sogni e Sorrisi a bottle of their hair serum, which is "designed to coat the hair and instantly reduce frizz. Leaves hair nourished, shiny, and soft."

1st Blogiversary, A Guest Post & A Pixelimpress Giveaway!

I can't believe that a year ago today I clicked "publish" on my first post on this blog. When I started out I really had no idea what I was doing, and I think in some ways didn't really know why. What I do know now is that, yes, blogging is hard work but it has also made my life so much richer. The people I've met, both in the flesh and online, not to mention the inspiration, the kindness and the ideas, have been invaluable. I think I've learned a lot about myself this past year, pushed myself farther and harder, and I'm just so grateful that all of you have been along for the ride.

I'd like to say a special thanks to the bloggers who were my very first commenters and followers (like Lauren of Pure Style Home, Giovanna of Swoon, Crystal of Plush Palate, Emily of Emily A. Clark, Dawn of The Alernative Wife and Helena of A Diary of Lovely, who asked me to do my first guest post!) I still remember the feeling when I realized that people were actually reading what I wrote. And responding. It was amazingly cool. And I would like to thank all of you who have come since then. Truly. You're the bestest blog friends a girl could have. If you're interested in what I posted that very first day here are a few links for you:

Also, today I'm very happy to be participating in Shannon's 12 Days of Holidays: A Blogger Wishlist -- hop on over to What's Up Whimsy to see what I'm wishing for this Christmas. Shannon is one of those great people I've met through blogging (I was super happy to be able to chat with her face to face at the recent Canadian Design Blogger's Meetup) and if you haven't been reading her blog you should really check it out.

On Sogni e Sorrisi's 1st Blogiversary I thought it would be appropriate to say thank you not just in words, but with a giveaway. The lovely Pam from Pixelimpress has graciously offered two great products to a lucky winner. Pixelimpress is a great shop that specializes not only in personalized calling cards, but also great paper products like notecards and gift tags (I fell in love with their green ikat tags when I saw them!) A sample of their products:

Holiday Cards

Gift Tags

Calling Cards

Notecards

"I love paper, patterns and colors, modern and traditional, and fonts. I love trying to find the unexpected yet beautiful way of mixing all of those to create a look that's unique," Pam says of her inspirations. "I'm environmentally conscious and use recycled materials as much as possible. And I strive to always give excellent customer service."

Enter now for your chance to win a Pixelimpress package that includes a Set of 10 Octopus Folded Notecards and a Set of 6 Ikat Hang Tags!

Win Dr. Perricone Products Including One of the Best Wrinkle Creams on the Market

GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED

Hello my lovelies, it's giveaway time again. Lately, as I enter my--ahem--late twenties, I've been thinking a lot about my skin. How to best treat it so it will be good to me later; how maybe I've not been so great to it in the past. I guess it's true what they say, it's never too early to start taking care of your skin and taking preventative measures to lessen the impact of age, diet, the environment and a myriad of other factors on it.

If you're on the same page then you will likely want to check out Dr. Perricone's line of products--if you haven't yet, of course--including a formula that is said to be one of the best wrinkle creams on the market. You can check out the anti wrinkle cream ratings on the company's site, including a reported 86% of participants in a four-week clinical trial showing improvement in the appearance of lines and wrinkles when using the High Potency Eye Lift Cream.

Now you have a chance to win your choice of any Dr. Perricone product under $150. Just be a follower of this blog and let me know which product you'd choose (check out the links above or perriconemd.com) as well as why you want or need it. Simple!

For additional entries follow me on Twitter and/or spread the word about this giveaway (blog, Facebook, Twitter) and let me know in your comment. Good Luck!

Contest open to U.S. and Canadian residents only (sorry international readers!) and is open until November 19, 2010. Winner will be chosen using random.org.

And today is the last day to
enter the BlueOrder Giveaway!
