Ryan Reynolds talks about Deadpool's Greenlight after Wolverine Origin Appearance

IGN got some face time with Ryan Reynolds on the Deadpool movie after the success of the Wolverine Origin film. Ryan speculates there will be no tie in to Wolverine.

While the story is not fleshed out at all, Ryan also voiced his opinion again as he had prior to taking on the role that he wants to play a more authentic Deadpool in that the character breaks the fourth wall (aware of audience), also regarded as being 'self-aware'.

Deadpool is an unusual character in the Marvel universe. He is not a bad guy, yet in the Wolverine film, the writers abandoned the real essence of Deadpool and used him as a villain for Wolverine to defeat. This is a nightmare to any long time reader of Deadpool stories. Deadpool is the class clown of Marvel characters and to see him vilified is an insult to the movie goers that attended Wolverine as fans of Marvel comics. For instance, at the end of Wolverine, the Deadpool everyone was exposed to (whom many hope was not in fact Deadpool but a clone of sorts) had many mutant powers which should have made him an overwhelming adversary to Wolverine, but more importantly nothing like the Deadpool his character is in the years old storyline. Next Deadpool generated swords from his arms rather than use his swords which are his trademark weapon. What a ridiculous move by the producers of the film. This was the major insult to Marvel fans. This early in the process you can see Ryan wants the Deadpool we want as he insists even he didn't portray the real Deadpool in Wolverine ...."And I wasn't even the Deadpool that they knew."

Ryan agreed that he doesn't have the strong enough name in acting to insist to the producers they make Deadpool right, but he is the 'right' actor to play Deadpool if you want the authentic version. In his own words: "Yeah, all those things. And I have ideas for it that I think are right in tune with the tone of that character. I'm dying to see them on film. Literally, dying. So many of the outlets that follow this character are curious what the elements will be, afraid that you won't be disfigured, that you won't wear the mask, and I laugh because there's no way to do this without having the scarring, having the mask, having it all. And it can be done. It's a no-brainer in that sense. You gotta have the character of Deadpool. You don't want to just invent something new and call it Deadpool."

Ryan gets it, but do the producers? Will we get a lame Deadpool that Hollywood insists we should accept or will there be a story with substance and character with personality?

Asked when he felt Marvel was going into production for Deadpool, Ryan gave a Deadpool answer,"I have two dramas – one in the summer, one in the fall – and then, hopefully, after that, we'll get to tackle this crimson f--ker."

Ryan readily offers he is training physically to be a great Deadpool as well. His commitment is long term too, "Something like Deadpool, that could be three films, maybe eight or ten years. "

Ultimately Ryan Reynolds wants Deadpool fans to have faith in him in his effort to bring the real Deadpool to the big screen in his own film, "If they can imagine if one of them were given the opportunity to do a Deadpool movie, just imagine that's what's happening. Just to have faith in that. And to have faith in the studio. It's hard for fans to do that, but I feel like they really want to do an authentic Deadpool movie….He's like Jason Bourne meets Phantom of the Opera by way of Caddyshack. And that, right there, is a wholly originally character, and that's what excites the dark overlords who fund this film. And me."

Review: X-Men Origins: Wolverine

There is no doubt that Hugh Jackman is the perfect actor to portray Wolverine; and Marvel's decision to do an origin story on Wolverine is a good idea. The character is steeped in mystery for the average movie goer whom enjoyed the first three X-Men films. The idea is to take us back some 15 years before the X-Men films take place. For the most part we get introduced to many new X-Men when they were young? Cyclops is but a young teen, Emma Frost, Gambit all become small blips in the film.

The story itself is worthy and the assortment of other Marvel characters in it, but when you use other characters, you open Pandora's box to their origins too. Certain enough that the bastardization of those characters hurts this film. There is much confusion as to what nationality Wolverine is.

He's born in what appears America but as he ages infinitely slower than regular humans, he settles in Canada. The same goes for the key protagonist, Stryker. Is his program an American run operation or Canadian? After all the secret government facilities are housed in both Canada and America. It makes no sense. How can a man travel in both countries and run what appears a secret American commando operation out of Canada? On who's authority does he operate?

While I'm condemning all this garbage, the film actually holds together the first 40 minutes. Then the story falls apart. At the seams. From Gambit interfering in a fight between Wolverine and Sabertooth without good reason, to Logan's continued interest in revenge after he learns he has no reason for it.

Aside from the failed story line there are still two major problems with Wolverine, one is story tellers bring in other characters without any true interplay. The second is the ending ... more

Iron Man 2 cast update

Can you say "Ya nim-noga penny myuichka Pa-Rooskee?" Let's hope Scarlett Johansson can.

The revolving door of cast members in Iron Man 2 has made another turn in just two days, and the rumor is that Scarlett Johansson has snatched the coveted role of Black Widow, the Ruskia agent and probable love interest of Tony Stark in the next Iron Man movie.

While others has reportedly wanted the role and some actively sought out the role, Scarlett stole the job without batting an eye. Only days ago Eliza Dushku rolled out her own Internet campaign to earn the job who also has learned some Russian.

Meanwhile for those of you not in the know, Robert Downey Jr. has ended speculation that Mickey Rouke is part of the production. The role of Crimson Dynamo is now officially up for grabs again. Heck, who knows--maybe Crimson isn't even in the next film. The loose lips in the production of the film may be the cause of such changes and shake-ups.

Rebooting Superman - Again?

Word is the Wachowski Brothers MAY take the helm of the next SuperMan film. The Brothers second unit director James McTeigue is also on board. However someone may need to remind the crew that bullet time photography in film has already be replicated in a SuperMan movie based on their Matrix film technique. Superman needs more than a good director. What it needs is a good story. And sadly Warner Brothers wants to reboot it. Just like Hulk.

What bothers me as I think it may bother you too is that why do we keep rebooting franchises? We all know how SuperMan came about. We know the origin of Batman and re-origin of Batman and Ironman, The Fantastic Four, Punisher, Catwoman, Spider-Man and god knows we know the orgin of The Hulk! Did I miss anyone?

Some of these origin stories were so bad, the franchise was killed.

Why does Hollywood keep beating us over the head with reboots? Just move the story forward please! Take for instance Hellboy. The origin of Hellboy was OK. But the second Hellboy film was a fun ride. My message to Hollywood, "Please give us a story now! Take us on a fun ride!" Origin plots are wearing out the genre of superhero films.

The logic behind the reboot? DC is taking Marvel's recent tack, to develop one character at a time in their own story slowly tying them together. This was all started in the Spider-Man franchise where characters were introduced as cameos early and eventually played prominent roles.

Dispite bringing on big name directors such as the Wachowski Brothers, Warner Brothers have failed to figure out how to consistently make a good franchise work because they think one dimensionally. A Wall Street Journal article points out this flaw by WB Pictures Group President Jeff Robinov:

Like the recent Batman sequel -- which has become the highest-grossing film of the year thus far -- Mr. Robinov wants his next pack of superhero movies to be bathed in the same brooding tone as "The Dark Knight." Creatively, he sees exploring the evil side to characters as the key to unlocking some of Warner Bros.' DC properties. "We're going to try to go dark to the extent that the characters allow it," he says. That goes for the company's Superman franchise as well.

This is rediculous. Superman is not brooding and dark. Nor is Wonder Woman. Sadly we will be getting orgin films from DC on: Flash, Green Arrow, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman. Rather than just focus on the human frailties, Warner Brothers is going to give us Batman the Dark Knight versions of SuperMan, Wonder Woman and others?

This certainly puts a nail in the coffin for now on any Batman vs SuperMan match up.
